Survey Overview

JLPS for the youth group (JLPS-Y)

The youth panel survey is based on questionnaire research, and focuses on male and female residents in Japan aged between 20 and 34. The questionnaire research was conducted in January through March, 2007. The respondents were selected from the Basic Resident Registration through a stratified sampling method based on age and gender (*1).

Due to expected difficulties in collecting responses from young people, we further stratified the sample based on age through the three age groups 20-24, 25-29, and 30-34 in order to adequately represent young people of both genders.

We mailed a questionnaire package to each of the potential respondents, along with a note stating that the respondents would also be requested to participate in follow-up surveys. Subsequently, our research staff collected the completed questionnaires by visiting the respondents individually. The response rate is shown in the following table: (* 2)
