Receiving the Data

This section explains how to receive datasets after your application has been approved. For information on how to apply for data use, please see here.

There are two methods of receiving data. You can check which applies to the dataset(s) you have applied for by referring to the "Notice of Approval of Application for Data Use" e-mail sent to you by SSJDA, or by logging in to SSJDA Direct and clicking on the "Details" link for the particular application listed in your "Record of Applications for Use" on the My Page screen.

  2. Data Available for Download from SSJDA Direct

Please be sure to provide an address where the documents can be guaranteed to be delivered.) We will inform you the password for opening the CD-R through "Message from SSJDA" (Details of Application for Use) on the SSJDA Direct. The detail of "Letter Pack Plus" (510yen) is the following web page.

A CD-R of the data will be sent once the self-addressed, stamped envelope arrives at the SSJ Data Archive. If applying for multiple datasets at the same time, the datasets can be compiled and sent in a single CD-R. Those wishing to receive multiple datasets in the same CD-R in this way are asked to submit printouts of all of the "Notice of Approval of Application for Data Use" e-mails.

In the case of applying for an extension of the period of use, the data will not be resent. If you wish to receive the data again please submit the above two items to the SSJ Data Archive via postal mail. When submitting these documents, write "Please Resend Data" on the printout of the "Notice of Approval of Application for Data Use" e-mail.

2. Data Available for Download from SSJDA Direct

A portion of the data is available for download from SSJDA Direct's online system. Once you receive the "Notice of Approval of Application for Data Use" e-mail, login to SSJDA Direct and download the approved dataset(s). For details on how to download the data, please see the SSJDA Direct User's Manual.

Data is available for download within 30 days of the date that the "Notice of Approval of Application for Data Use" e-mail is sent from SSJDA. If you wish to download the data after this time, please reapply for the data by submitting a new Application for Data Use.
