Program for Strengthening Data Infrastructure for the Humanities and Social Sciences

Building on the achievements of the Program for Constructing Data Infrastructure for the Humanities and Social Sciences, the Program for Strengthening Data Infrastructure for the Humanities and Social Sciences aims to further improve and strengthen data platforms and other infrastructures that promote the sharing and use of data in the humanities and social sciences. The Program also aims to help researchers share data with each other and promote collaborative research in Japan and abroad.
The Historiographical Institute and the Institute of Social Science at the University of Tokyo have been operating as the Participating Institution (Headquarters) for this project since October 2023, commissioned by the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science.

Social Science Data Infrastructure Workshop 2026
  "From Archiving to Intelligence: Developing Interoperable and AI-Ready GIS Datasets"

Overview

The primary objective of this joint event is to actively discuss common issues and possibilities for research collaboration concerning the development of data archives, particularly focusing on the application of Geographic Information System (GIS) technology. Collaboration would aim to leverage data archives and visualization services through GIS.
