We call for questionnaire items that can be included in the SSJDA Panel online surveys scheduled for October 2024 and February 2025. Please note, applications will be accepted only once a year.
- Eligibility
The applicant should be a researcher affiliated to a university or other research institutes. Alternatively, the applicant should be an equivalent researcher, graduate student, or an individual approved by the Director of the Center for Social Research and Data Archives (CSRDA). Undergraduate students are not eligible to apply.

- Data Usage
Survey data will be given to the accepted applicants.
We will provide you with a data set including all variables; however, variables applied by other applicants are generally unavailable. You are required to analyze the data as per the research plan you have submitted.
To accumulate empirical research, you are obligated to report the analysis results, regardless of the outcome.
The analysis results should be reported by February 2026, either in a discussion paper, journal, submitted paper, conference, the SSJDA Panel research briefing session, or a similar manner.
- Data Release
- All survey data, except for respondents' personal information and free answers, will be released by the Social Science Japan Data Archive (SSJDA).
- Application Deadline

- Notification of application results
The CSRDA will select applicants after considerable deliberation.
The applicants will be notified of the selection results by Monday, September 17th, 2024. If approved, the final confirmation of survey items and layout will be done. Substantial additions or changes cannot be made after the approval.
- Report on the outcomes of joint research
We will hold the SSJDA Panel research briefing session, in which you will report on your research results. You are also required to report on your research results at the CSRDA Discussion Paper Series or the SSJDA Research Paper Series (Japanese Only).
You can also report at a journal or a conference prior to reporting at the SSJDA Panel research briefing session.
The analysis results should be reported by February 2026 either in a discussion paper, journal, submitted paper, conference, the SSJDA Panel research briefing session, or a similar manner.
- Data provision of surveys conducted to date
- The questionnaire items and their frequency distributions for surveys conducted to date will be made available later.
